The expansion into Australia has been a success and the distribution and production models used will be adopted for developing markets in Canada and America. Design, logistics control and invoicing will continue to be managed from New Zealand as well as some manufacturing. Warehouses and a sales and distribution team, which receive regular visits from New Zealand management, are based in Australia and bulk manufacturing will continue in China.
GDM Group was founded in 1978 by Michael Eden and remains privately-owned. Michael Eden still leads the Group, with the support of a multi-talented management team. Head office is in Wanganui alongside the 5,000 square metre factory and there are sales offices in Auckland and Sydney. The company also has a large, joint venture manufacturing plant with ISO 9001 grading in China, which is frequently visited by GDM Group’s key managers who facilitate training and oversee quality control.
The company prides itself on being adaptable and having a design-driven business philosophy. It has consistently won awards over the last six years for retail fit-out design, and in 2004 and 2005, it also won business awards for manufacturing and exporting.
