GDM Group World Class
In today’s competitive environment to compete and stay ahead of competitors and meet customer expectations requires GDM Group to explore different structures and operating disciplines.

At GDM Group we are embarking on a programme called GDM World Class which is working to the Lean Manufacturing principles and specifically the 20 Key framework. We have support from NZ Trade & Enterprise which has assisted the implementation process.

What GDM Group World Class means for our customers is a commitment to professionalism, partnership and service. Our people are engaged in making change happen as this is a bottom up rather than a top down management approach.

It sets out a framework which breaks the operation down into separate areas, which are then focused on, to evaluate and measure quality, cost, delivery, service, safety and morale. Improvements in these areas create increased overall efficiencies and competitiveness. This is an exciting time for GDM Group.

New Zealand Trade and Enterprise Export Awards GDM Group has been selected as a finalist in the specialized manufacturing section for the New Zealand Export Awards.

The category winners and the DHL supreme exporter of the year’ will be announced at the Export Awards Dinner to be held at the SKYCITY Convention Centre on Thursday 15 November 2007.

The process to get to the finals included:
Stage 1 - sending in preliminary information on export achievements over the last 3 years.
Stage 2 - we were requested to supply information on four sections to demonstrate how we have achieved success with our people, customers, products, processes and strategy.
Stage 3 – involved a visit on site by NZTE representative to verify the information provided.

To be recognised as a finalist brings a great sense of achievement. Subjected to a rigorous entry process highlights areas where we are doing well and we know we can do better.

The Latest Technology
We have invested in a CNC Routing Machine which is a state of-the-art piece of equipment for cutting timber and aluminium. The machine is operated by computer and enables us to programme it to cut any shape imaginable, greatly increasing our joinery and production capabilities.

GDM joins ASOFIA
Our Company has recently joined the ranks of the Australian Shopfitters Association (Asofia).  The Association is responsible for monitoring regulations, standards and administrative procedures that affect the industry and works closely with its membership to promote and support industry training programs, occupational health and safety and cohesive industrial relations practices.   As long term members of the NZ Retail Interior Association and the NZ Retailers Association as well, we are well supported in Australasia.
